IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad takes you back to the Eastern Front with a select set of planes on a new gaming engine. This new entry into the series offers pilots an accurate simulation of the most famous air battles of World War II. Although this is a continuation of the IL-2 Sturmovik series, it is a serious upgrade. It offers better quality of content, a bigger scale, new physics, and more realistic aerodynamics. This title is most definitely set apart from all that came before it.

This flight simulation game offers you ten plane options, eight of which actually participated in the Battle of Stalingrad. Most of these early to mid-war planes were essentially front-line fighters. You can choose your side, depending on the plane you want to fly. The Soviets offer the LaGG-3 and Yak-1 fighters as well as the IL-2 and Pe-2 bombers. As a Luftwaffe pilot, you can fly the Bf 109 F-4, Bf 109 G-2, Ju87D-3 and the He-111 H-6 bombers, just to name a few.

The levels of detail in the cockpits brings incredible reality to the immersion factor. Each plane, and cockpit, has been recreated with a stunning level of historical validity. The throttle and other indicators must be set correctly before turning on the engines. Additionally, manifold pressure, rpms, and even engine temperatures must be monitored during flight. As you see every moving part inside the cockpit, you will feel like your plane is a real flying machine. Put on a scarf and some goggles and take off. This is a flight sim like no other before it.

Every mission is different. The single player campaign allows you to fly for either side with any plane available in the game. You can choose to provide an escort for bombers, intercept enemy bombers, or even attack ground targets. If you are bombing you will engage different targets on multiple terrain such as train stations, factories, or even ground combat targets.

IL-11

If you are high-level bombing, such as a bombing crew during the war, you can even expect some of your targets to be blocked by the clouds. It all adds to the reality and historical value of the game. The fun doesn’t stop there. Expect over ten dedicated servers for multiplayer enjoyment as well.

Action takes place on a 358×230 km map which is the largest and most detailed recreation of the Battle of Stalingrad ever modeled in a flight simulation. Unique and detailed damage model will challenge even the best pilots. Become an ace fighter pilot or try your hand at flying attack planes and bombers. Detailed aircraft systems and advanced aerodynamics heightens the sensations of the flight simulation model.
