Panzer Corps is an award-winning turn-based strategy game from the German point of view. You get to control hundreds of units like tanks, artillery, ships, and aircraft in four historical German campaigns. You also get the chance to play everybody with incredible tactical and strategic variety.

Obviously set in World War II, you are put in the general’s tent in charge of the Axis armies. One large campaign tree encompasses twenty-six different scenarios that carry core forces through the war. Over 800 unit types divided up into twenty different classes gives you an incredible amount to explore. You are obligated to make use of your strengths and your enemies’ weaknesses to try and seize victory.

The Grand Campaign covers the war in graphic detail from 1939 to 1945. You can play them all linked together or jet in on stand-alone campaigns. This game is perfect for people who love strategy or as an introduction to war games. Most scenarios begin with exciting voice overs and typewritten copies of your orders. Then you proceed quickly to purchasing and positioning your units on the scenario’s map. The maps themselves typically depict large areas of European terrain. There is a massive amount of space for you to conquer. You begin by scattering your forces around the map in pre-defined staging areas.

Your forces are made up of individual units such as infantry, engineers, scout cars, and much more. As the units gain experience and become more potent, they can be upgraded. For instance, basic infantry can become paratroopers. You will also benefit from advancing technology allowing you to update to more technical models as you progress. An expenditure of prestige allows you to buy, upgrade, and reinforce units. Prestige is gained by capturing enemy cities and progressing in the campaign.

Units move a certain number of hexes per turn. They typically move more quickly over roads or open terrain while mountains, mud, and snow can slow them down. Certain rivers can be crossed by any unit, while others cannot. Units cannot stack and combat is usually resolved quickly.

Depending on the outcome of each battle, you will be faced with different challenges along several parts of the campaign tree. Every campaign has a number of possible permutations, thanks to the victory-rating system. Different core units travel with you gaining experience that can be upgraded as new weapon technologies become available.
